Pimping The Ol’ SXSW Panel Picker
(First off, sorry about the delay in posting — been totally swamped here in the pits of San Francisco ROFLThing and getting stuff closed up at Creative Commons. Should be regular this week until I head on out to Yellowstone with the family for a trip. Anyone interested in guest blogging?)
In any case, it’s that time of the year again — when geeky men and women from around the country get together to vote on what they want to see at the March 2009 South by Southwest Conference at their Panel Picker.
And the horrendous pimpage goes down as people scramble for support.
Inspired by Merlin Mann’s “The Monthly Pimp,” I figured I’d get all of them out of the way in one go — so here we are. Go forth and vote! (You don’t even have to be going to the conference!)
Mine
- “Obsolete?: The World After E-mail”
Elevator pitch: E-mail is totally old, lame, and inefficient. What comes next? I have this dream of getting all these lifehackers, techies, and UI designers together in one room to talk about ideas for evolving/completely eliminating traditional e-mail design.
- “State of the Internet Memescape: 2008-10”
Building from ROFLexperiences and some of the research that I’ve been doing since, I’ve slowly been putting together a talk on the tight knitting between the hardware/software environment and the evolution of internet culture. Plus, it’d be an excuse for me to continue to try to track down the elusive JenniCam and the original people behind Hampster Dance. Which would be rocking.

*Alex Leavitt’s “Blackboards or Backchannels: The Techno-Induced Classroom of Tomorrow”
*Sarah Davies, “Start To Finish Drupal Redesign”

All these people are all A++++ WOULD GUY AGAIN GRAET SHIPPING. You should go and give them 5 stars.
