In the continuing sporadic series of blog posts in “Tim’s Been Busy Graduating and Moving to San Francisco And Too Busy To Post At Length” land, I’m happy to announce today that Chris Kelty, the absolutely awesome moderator of the final panel at ROFLCon, has recently come out with his book, Two Bits, a study of the history and development of Free Software as a movement.
Working my way through it now: it’s really great stuff. Unlike a bunch of the literature that’s been written on the subject, Kelty’s anthropological approach lets him get at some broader issues of “recursive publics” and what makes the whole cultural engine of open source tick. Definitely going to post at length when I get some more time.
Finally moving in today though, so we should be back to nice, meaty substantive posting as soon as Monday. Stay tuned…
